We blend academic excellence with Christ-centered values so every student grows in knowledge, character, and confidence each day.
Our academic programs are designed to meet students where they are and guide them forward. Beginning with early exploration and continuing through deeper study and leadership development, students are challenged, supported, and encouraged to reach their full potential.
Each level builds intentionally on the one before it, creating a seamless experience where skills strengthen year after year and students are well prepared for the next step in their education. Teachers work closely together across grade levels to ensure smooth transitions, consistent expectations, and students who are confident and ready for what comes next.
First Lutheran’s Early Childhood Education program provides a safe, nurturing, and Christ-centered environment where children grow academically, socially, physically, and spiritually. We believe every child is uniquely blessed, and our experienced teachers partner with families to help each student develop confidence, independence, and a lifelong love of learning.
Our curriculum blends the Tennessee Early Learning Standards, the Core Knowledge Preschool Sequence, and scripturally based instruction from Concordia Publishing House. Through hands-on learning, purposeful play, and intentional teaching, students build strong foundations in literacy, math, science, language, creative arts, and social development while also growing in their knowledge of Jesus.

First Lutheran’s Early Childhood Education program is:
Our teachers are dedicated to helping children grow academically, spiritually, socially, and emotionally.
Preparing Students for Lifelong Success
Our Early Childhood program goes beyond basic childcare. We intentionally prepare students for kindergarten and future academic success by building strong academic foundations, nurturing their faith, and helping them grow into confident, capable learners.
At First Lutheran, children are known, supported, and guided every step of the way.

First Lutheran’s Elementary School builds strong academic foundations with a focus on reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. Through small classes and personal attention, students develop confidence, strong study habits, and a love of learning that prepares them for middle school and beyond.
Teachers maintain close communication with families through Fast Direct, weekly newsletters, and regular updates, so parents always know what their child is learning and how they are progressing. This partnership helps students stay supported both in the classroom and at home.
Homework in the early grades focuses primarily on reading practice, along with assignments, projects, or extra reinforcement when needed. These activities help students strengthen their skills, build responsibility, and grow as independent learners.
At First Lutheran, elementary students are known, supported, and guided as they grow academically, personally, and spiritually.
Field Trips & Enrichment
Field trips are considered an academic component of the elementary experience and are utilized throughout the year to enrich learning across the K-8 curriculum. These outings include trips to plays, ballets, and orchestras, which expand students' exposure to the arts and extracurricular opportunities.

First Lutheran’s Middle School prepares students for high school by building strong academic skills, personal responsibility, and confidence. Students transition between homeroom and subject‑specialist teachers, helping them develop independence while still receiving the personal guidance and support they need to succeed.
Our curriculum challenges students through advanced coursework in math, literature, science, history, and writing. Students participate in hands‑on science classes, formal writing instruction, and in‑depth historical studies, while math placement in Pre‑Algebra or Algebra I prepares them for high school success.
Faith remains central to the middle school experience. Through religion classes, students deepen their understanding of Christian faith and Lutheran beliefs in a thoughtful and supportive environment.
Teachers remain highly accessible, helping students stay organized, manage assignments, and build strong study habits. Students also benefit from continued Spanish instruction and enrichment opportunities that prepare them academically and personally for high school and beyond.
At First Lutheran, middle school students grow into independent, capable learners who are prepared for their next stage of education and life.
Field Trips & Enrichment
Field trips are a key part of the K-8 academic experience and, for middle school students, include an overnight trip to build independence and provide an enriching educational opportunity. Furthermore, students benefit from field trips to cultural events, such as plays, ballets, and orchestras, as part of the expanded Arts and extracurricular program.

These testimonials from parents and alumni reflect the lasting impact of a Christ-centered education that helped prepare them for life beyond the classroom.
“Each day my child leaves for school excited to see her teacher and classmates. The academics at First Lutheran are second to none, but the relationships are what make this school so special. The students and teachers all know my child by name. First Lutheran is truly a school that feels like family. I know my child is getting an incredible education, but more importantly I know she is getting the love of Jesus shared and modeled every day!”
“This school has taught me to lean on God and not on others with my problems... Starting the day with God and putting your faith in Him was always a staple at First Lutheran.”
"I know that this school is one of the most incredible places to learn because the teachers care and want you to learn, and you make a close group of friends you want to spend the rest of your life with."
“When we transferred to FLS my kids went from surviving school to thriving at school. During our time here they have made good friends, established good connections with their teachers, and been challenged to grow in ways that interest them and engage them. I especially like the way that the kids are encouraged to mix with and be friends with kids from all grade levels, not just their own class. It really makes FLS feel like family."
“Because of these excellent people, I have been presented with the chance to head into high school with confidence and I am sure many of the lessons I learned here will accompany me throughout life."
"First Lutheran School not only instills a genuine love of learning in our child, but its wonderful community of caring parents and teachers makes us feel like part of a large, loving family. The small class sizes and dedicated teachers at First Lutheran ensure that every student receives the personalized attention they need to learn and grow in the way that works best for them."
